Abstract
Oral or Poster
Kidney (KT) and simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplantation (SPKT) are effective for end-stage kidney failure and type 1 diabetes, but vascular complications such as anastomotic pseudoaneurysms can be serious. This study evaluates the role of endovascular stenting in their management.
Retrospective review of KT and SPKT patients who underwent stenting between 2013–2025. Data included demographics, transplant details, stenting indications, type/timing, and intraoperative cultures during graft explantation
18 patients (7 KT, 11 SPKT) underwent stenting for anastomotic complications, mainly pseudoaneurysms. In KT, only one patient had complications and died with background PVD. In SPKT, stenting addressed varied complications with mixed outcomes
Endovascular stenting is a safe and useful option for managing vascular complications in KT and SPKT, offering a temporizing measure to enable safe graft explantation. Graft preservation with pseudoaneurysms remains difficult. Further studies are needed on indications and optimal techniques.
