Introduction *
Pathologic staging is crucial in colorectal carcinoma. Unlike majority of solid tumors, current staging doesn't use tumor size and ENE as a criterion. This pilot study evaluates significance of T size and ENE in metastatic colonic cancers to assess the prognosis in form of recurrence and metastasis after 2 years follow up and to redefine existing TNM.
Material & Method *
Pilot study of 100 cases of colorectal cancers who underwent resection of primary cancer diagnosed between 2020- 2022.
Results *
DOES COLORECTAL CANCER NEED TO REDEFINE TNM BASED ON T SIZE AND EXTRANODAL EXTENSION IN NODES? - A PILOT STUDY BASED ON 2YEAR FOLLOWUP. 100 patients with colorectal cancer reported during this period. The prognostic impact of tumor size and ENE were strongly associated with recurrence and metastasis. Compared to the tumors with size < 5 cms, those with > 5cms ( p < 0 .001)' and those with ENE negative with those with ENE positive ( p< 0.001).
Conclusion *
Further studies are required to classify the role of tumor size in prognostic staging models and how to incorporate this in therapy decisions. ENE is. Closely associated with aggressiveness of colorectal cancers.
