Abstract
Poster Exhibition only
The acute cholecystitis guidelines TG18 have not established treatment guidelines for the elderly. The aim of this study is to determine whether surgery can be performed safely for acute cholecystitis in elderly patients.
We divided patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis in our department between April 2022 and December 2024 into elderly patients (≥75 years old) and those under 75 years old, and compared their short-term postoperative outcomes.
21 patients were studied. 6 patients were aged≧75 and 15 patients were <75 years. There was no significant difference in severity between the two groups, p=0.69 There was no significant difference in the number of preoperative PTGBD sessions between the two groups, p=0.315. There was no significant difference in the number of performing bailout procedure between the two groups, p=0.789. There was no significant difference in the number of morbidities between the two groups, P=0.577. There was no significant difference in postoperative hospital stay between the two groups, p=0.657.
It was suggested that by performing bailout procedure or preoperative PTGBD, elderly people also can undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy safely.
