Introduction *
The newly incorporated International Collaborative of Surgical Education & Training was originally convened 17 years ago as the International Conference on Surgical Education & Training. At its inception, the scientific conference was a unique cooperation between a core group of representatives of various international surgical colleges and surgical organizations. Biennial meetings were intended to be fora for discussing key issues central to surgical education and training and to develop consensus statements with a global perspective. Nine ICOSET meetings have occurred since 2008 and with each successive conference, themes on education and training have included selection, simulation, supervision, assessment, use of technology, professionalism, workforce, underperformance, welfare, human factors, artificial intelligence, sustainability and culture of surgery. With an aim to be inclusive, expand involvement and ensure this conference has international participation, reach and relevance, ICOSET has moved to come in under the International Surgical Society. Its strategic mission and vision will be explored in the presentation.
