Introduction *
The biliary ileus is a mechanical intestinal obstruction caused by a gallstone in the gastrointestinal tract. It is a rare pathology with high morbidity and mortality. The neumobilia, intestinal obstruction with hydroaeric levels and the presence of an ectopic stone (outside the gallbladder ) make up Rigler“s triad, which is present in 83 % of cases.
Material & Method *
A retrospective study was conducted in a health center, from 2014 to 2023, analyzing medical histories, observing age, sex, morbidity, complementary studies,and treatments performed.
Results *
16 cases of biliary ileus were found, 11 of which were women, with high morbidity, history of obesity or overweight, diabetes, and hypertension in all cases. The Rigler triad was found in 83 % of cases.
Conclusion *
Intestinal obstruccion in older adults with, imaging studies , finding the Rigler triad woultd pathognomonic of biliary ileus.
