Application to host a congress
Invitations to host the International Surgical Week ISW - the World's Congress of Surgery can only be made by the National Delegate of the inviting National Chapter with the assurance of strong support by the National Surgical Society and authorities of the host country.
It has to be taken into account that the organization and control of the scientific program will be done by the ISS/SIC Program Committee in conjunction with the Integrated Societies, the Participating Societies and with the input of the Local Organizing Committee at the Scientific Secretariat in Switzerland. The Council of International Society of Surgery/Société Internationale de Chirurgie will determine the region of interest for a future International Surgical Week ISW.
Partners and Sponsors
The International Society of Surgery ISS/SIC organizes a biennial congress, the International Surgical Week (ISW) which usually gathers some 2’500 surgeons from around the world to discuss the major issues of the surgical world. Many of the delegates are decision-makers at their hospitals.
ISW is also the major meeting of the Integrated Societies (International Specialist Societies within the fields of Endocrine, Trauma, Nutrition, Breast, and Digestive Surgery as well as Anaesthesia). Additionally, the Participating Societies and local societies join the congress and provide a scientific program.
A technical exhibition is organized in close conjunction with the congress where companies related to surgical fields but also non-medical companies may promote their products.
